Once I’ve read one book I like by an author, I tend to recognize their name and pick up their other books when I run across them, back cover unread. So I picked this one up thinking it would be a psychological suspense novel like Heaberlin’s Black-eyed Susans.
The “deliciously chilling” description on the cover should have clued me in. This book is best described as a ‘summer beach read’ – and a fun one at that!
Lie Still starts out in shades of darkness, but quickly morphs into a feisty little mystery with plenty of sharp wit and humor. Not what I had in mind, but enjoyable. It kept my attention. I laughed out loud a couple of times. Not my usual cup of tea, but a pleasant change of pace. 4 stars.
