I usually don’t like sci-fi. Science heavy fiction, yes, but sci-fi is usually a no for me. But . . . this book was getting a lot of hype . . . and the author, Blake Crouch, wrote Wayward Pines, which I haven’t read yet, but I watched the miniseries on TV and enjoyed it, so I figured I’d give it a go.
The sci-fi was a very light, tolerable dose. Some science, some introspection, nothing life changing, but it was quickly paced and kept my attention. It’s not going to make my list of favorites, but it is what it is – a good time.
I hate giving spoilers, so all I’ll say is that it reminds me very much of a Jet Li movie that came out in 2001.
Fun and fast. 5 stars!
